Some scholarships are available and are awarded on the basis of need and academic promise. If parental support, personal resources, state and federal grant and loan programs, and scholarship opportunities are exhausted, the student may be permitted to execute a deferred payment agreement through the FACTS Tuition Management Program. Greece and Oxford Program costs will be partly included in tuition and partly billed as a surcharge. Types of Financial Aid The College of Saint Thomas More offers three types of financial aid
. Grants Federal Pell Grants are only awarded to undergraduate students who have
not earned a bachelor's or professional degree. Federal Pell Grants, which
do not have to be repaid, are awarded to students based on need. The need
is determined by the information provided on the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). How much money you will receive under the Federal Pell Grant program
is based on your need, the cost of attendance at your school, whether
you are a part-time or full-time student, and whether you attend school
for a full academic year or less. Tuition Equalization Grant-Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership
(TEG-LEAP) Texas residents and National Merit Scholarship finalists enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students at independent colleges and universities in Texas. Student must show financial need according to the FAFSA, and be a bona fide Texas Resident enrolled at least half time. Full time students will be given priority. Maximum awards are $3572 TEG and $1250 LEAP. Grants are awarded in the late summer, but late applicants may receive first-come, first-served status for unencumbered funds in December. Students beginning study in the Spring Semester may apply for unencumbered funds. There is no repayment required for these grants. Supplemental Leveraging Educational Assistance Program
(SLEAP) Loans Federal Stafford Loans The Federal Stafford subsidized loan is awarded on the basis of financial
need, which is determined by the information you provide on the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you qualify for a subsidized loan,
the federal government pays interest on the loan (subsidizes the loan)
until you begin repayment and during authorized periods of deferment thereafter. Hinson Hazlewood College Student Loan Program --College Access Loan (CAL) Work-Study Federal Work-Study The Texas Work-Study Program The Texas Work Study Program is similar to the Federal Work-Study Program
but is available only to Texas Residents. Refunds Students may drop a class before the beginning of the semester for a
full refund. Students who drop a class during the first week of the semester
will receive a 90% refund. Students who drop a class during the second
week of the semester will receive a 75% refund. No refunds will be given
after the end of the second week of the semester. Applying for Financial Aid FAFSA All students requesting financial aid must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. All requests for financial aid must be accompanied by a Student Aid Report from the federal government. You obtain this by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These forms are available at the College, through your high school counselor, or at your local public library. Although applications are accepted throughout the year, we recommend that FAFSA forms be submitted by June 30 for the Fall semester. Click to go to the Department of Education's FAFSA Website.
