Academic Standards

The first requisite for entrance into the Institute is a love of learning and a desire to study the tradition of the Catholic faith in the West. The phrase that we use to describe the history of the development of doctrine in the West as well as the holy men and women who have shaped this development is the "Western Theological Tradition." All who meet this requirement can be assured of real adventure and joyful discovery as
well as personal growth in the faith!

While the Institute is entering its fourth year, it is still developing its accreditation and institutional identity. All courses are taught at the graduate level by qualified instructors. Appropriate reading and writing assignments are given. All faculty are qualified and dedicated to teaching the faith. Upon approval by our accreditation agency, a Master's Degree in Theological Studies will be awarded to students successfully completing 36 hours of instruction (the core courses).  We are also exploring the possibility of awarding a Catechetical Diploma.

The curriculum of the Institute consists of 3000/4000 level courses in the College curriculum, plus several 3000/4000 level Topics in Theology courses, taught at a time and with an emphasis that facilitate participation by adults who seek enrichment or who wish to prepare for lay ministry. Students should be aware that courses in the certificate curriculum will transfer, subject to the judgment of the accepting institution, as 4000 level courses, and that the College cannot at this time grant 5000 level (graduate) credit.
